i would like to thank the under 8's for their efforts on sunday 14th february.

we played thornbury and the game was a great advertisement for tag rugby.the game flowed from end to end with both sides playing with enthusiasm.

we had ten players to their 22 and played three games. the boys rarely complained and were exhausted come the end.

the talk i had with them the week before about talking basck to the referee seemed to work as they didn't argue with any of John Indge's dodgy refereeing!!

The junior club also enjoyed a great year winning many tournaments and cups demonstrating the club's dedication of its coaches, support of the club's officers and the support of the parents.

Are there photographs of all of the St. Brendan's teams from the past? I've just learned that my husband's father was a St. Brendan's "Old Boy", probably between 1930-1941, and we were hoping to find some information or photographs from this time.

Also, he lived at Nazareth House during this time -- was it common for boys from the orphanage to play on St. Brendan's teams, or would his time on the team had to have been while he was living elsewhere?

SBOB vs Dings 1st March

The Dings squad arrived for this fixture unfortunately short of a man so this was a 12 a-side match played in mild weather at Coombe Dingle. From the kick off Dings moved the ball well through repeated phases of ruck and maul. Their fly half was very quick and looked to get their back line moving well. This was clearly a well drilled team. SBOB however were clearly up for this match from the start and were soon knocking Dings backwards largely through very aggressive ...

Match Report

Final Score SBOB 0 Thornbury 50.

Following 2 good wins SBOBs U12s were brought down to earth by a superior Thornbury side. Played out on the Downs this was an unfortunately one sided affair. From the start Thornbury were applying pressure up front and were quickly able to convert that pressure into points by some good running from behind the scrum. The SBOB forwards put up a brave fight through the first half. In the mauls the ...

Peter Pullin Tournament 2009 : Sunday 29 March 2009 @ Coombe Dingle

As you will all probably know, the mini/midi section of the club have, over many years, held an annual tournament, named after Peter Pullin, who organised, what is believed to be, the first large scale mini rugby tournament in the UK, back in the 1970’s.

I am pleased to say the tournament has continued to thrive. 36 teams participate in the under 7’s to under 12’s age groups and there is little doubt, from feedback ...

When you read the Under 12 team reports as well as the under 9s one can see how enthusiastic the boys are as well as the coaches. It is very pleasing to see how the Under 12 team with determination and team work played to their best abilities to win an exciting match. Read the Under 12 Team news page for a full report.

This is a true rugby spirit the same as the SBOB first XV are showing with their achievments this year.

It's almost Christmas, we're half way through our season, and what a season it is turning out to be. The squad is positively bursting with enthusiasm, talent and the sheer numbers of players.

The squad is full of all sorts of characters. Big Dan, who still tackles around the legs despite his size. Cameron, who does not like losing. Drew, who leaps around the place. Natasha and Rosie, who will take on any boy and win, just like Martha will. Barney, Will, George, Edward, Gabriel ...
